A useful employment timeline is not a diary. It is a sequence another person can test.
For each event, record:
- date and approximate time;
- what happened;
- people involved;
- what you personally observed;
- what someone else reported;
- document or message supporting the event;
- employer explanation given at the time;
- protected complaint/request/leave/agency activity, if relevant;
- later consequence;
- uncertainty or missing evidence.
Use separate entries when one day contains several important events. Preserve the original records outside the worksheet; the timeline is an index, not a substitute for the evidence.
